Wind River Systems has announced the acquisition of RTLinux from FSMLabs. RTLinux is patented, and FSMLabs has long licensed this patent for use in GPL-licensed code. The press release is silent on the future of this license; it is worth noting that the license text has disappeared from the FSMLabs site. The license can still be found on LWN or via the Wayback Machine; it appears to have a one-year timeout. So anybody who was counting on this license may want to be asking Wind River some questions.
