In recent tests of both throughput and power efficiency, the MySQL Database Management System delivered superior results when compared to several other popular DBMS packages, including Sybase (NYSE: SY) and PostgreSQL. For example, MySQL delivered 101 to 299 percent more throughput and 107 to 328 percent better power efficiency when compared to Sybase. These tests were run on an AMD (NYSE: AMD) Opteron based server by the independent computer performance consulting firm Neal Nelson & Associates.
